Restaurant hostess might be a good job for you, or some restaurants have a carryout employee. Neither job requires a lot of heavy lifting. You'd be on your feet, but assuming you already are if you are a retail worker. Not sure where in Reading you are, but it's likely there are restaurants well within the range of public transportation.
Most restaurants are willing to train new employees! It's definitely worth checking out! Retail has a lot of transferable skills for many other customer service jobs. Front desk at a hotel, spa, doctor's office. Don't sell yourself short, it's never too late to learn something new!
My skills are primarily customer service based, with decades of experience greeting, assisting and speaking to customers. I can also type with a word count around 170 or so. I write prose for a hobby and have had some skill editing what I write, so I can do something in that area too. I have physical disabilities including chronic pain that keep me from being on my feet for too long, so I would like to find something where I alternate between moving and sitting, if possible. I don’t have a drivers license so I am limited to what I can get to via public transport or cab/Lyft. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it.
Ask God to help you-He has ALL the jobs!!!Ask Him to work in His Kingdom He will take it from there!!
I also sold phones in cell phone stores for years where you can sit if your doctor filled out paperwork. Corporate jobs are more likely to do that.
H&R Block you can become a tax associate or receptionist. It’s mostly seasonal though. You take a tax class. They may or may not pay for it. I think they hire again in the fall.
There’s a lot of medical jobs in Pittsburgh. Upmc has tuition reimbursement I think. Bidwell training center here has free schooling for medical assistant or coding but the schedule is strict. I think it’s 8 months. My sister became a respiratory therapist without a degree as well. It depends where you are in Pa.
