Like is it pretty in line with most consulting firms, can say 40-60 in this case as an average range, or is it a sweatshop where you can expect to work 60-70 hours pretty consistently?

Is it common to negotiate software engineer salary at smaller companies? I know it’s common at FAANG, but what about for companies with around 200 engineers? Started a new job a year ago, high performer. My manager suggested a promotion to Product Manager since that‘s the work I’m doing, but that would be a 50% raise. Higher ups decided instead to make a “new role” (not PM), that has no analog in the company and is hard to price via Glassdoor, etc. I feel like this is to limit my promotion salary to something like 10% from where it currently is. Moved to industry recently. I used to feel super guilty and anxious if I stepped away from my computer even for a bit.
