@pwc2 - it’s broken into - 6 weeks Short term disability + 6 wks family leave + any accrued vacation time you want to use.... and I think you can take up to a total of 6 months off with job protection and loss of pay, if you don’t have any vacation time outside of The 12 weeks that you get.
^OP is correct with all of the above. Source (self, multiple maternity leaves)
It doesn’t matter what the PwC formal policy is. Their informal policy is to not respect any time away.
I’m also pretty eager to hear more about that. We just found out we’re expecting. If that paternity leave increases to compete with Deloitte, I’ll be so hyped up!
Another post on here said 8 weeks vs the current at 6, but not confirmed
Is there a diff btwn family leave and maternity leave? Manager took the full 6 months and came back with no issue. Thought it was 6 months not 6-8 wks. Am I wrong?
@pwc6 - it doesn’t. What it means is, you can avail up to 6 months paid maternity leave if you have accrued enough vacation time. If you don’t have accrued vacation time, you can still take unpaid leave ( outside of the 6wk STD + 6 wk FML that everyone gets)till the 6 month mark and your job will be protected. Your job won’t be protected for any time off taken after the 6 months, is my understanding .
Currently EY and Deloitte are way better than PwC in this regard. Not sure about KPMG’s policy
I was referring to paternity leave..
I am about to start paternity on Monday. Should I wait? Or will 2 weeks be added when its announced 4/1?
I would wait ^
I somehow have a bad feeling that these changes may take effect only after July 1 ( bad feeling coz I would’ve just missed that bus!😒)
If it's July 1st. I will take 6 weeks now.
I don't understand the breakdown. How does that equal six months?
@PwC 6 - you can take unpaid leave up to 6 months (and still keep your job) once you go beyond 12 weeks of paid STD and parental leave
Oh wow. That sucks. All this time I thought it was six months paid (partially at the least). I'm far from having children so have never read the fine print but PwC makes it seem like it's so much better. How does our plan compare to the other big 4?
