It is a small and diminishing market segment, and the competition is very high
At a fully remote in house counsel job at a fund. Got super lucky. Wasn’t exclusively looking for remote as it is my first in house job. But did apply to like 100 in house job and it was my only offer
Given the volume of your applications, it sounds like you don’t have a niche. If you’re broadly targeting remote roles and you don’t have a niche, you’re not really competitive in this market.
Yes. To get a job the test is not qualified but rather most competitive match.
I’m fully remote but I’m also in a very high demand/niche area. I negotiated this and because I’m in high demand, I drove the requirements. I manage a global team and our company is mandatory on site but I was able to get approval from executives to recruit my positions remote because of market demand and lack of local, available, qualified candidates. I just received approval to move back east to a much cheaper area yet still keep my CA salary. It’s becoming more rare but if you have a specialty they need, it can be done.
About as attainable as dates with swimsuit models
I’m outside counsel but plenty of my clients have fully remote in-house folks.
There are fully remote roles but are very competitive
They are out there but tend to be more specialized roles
I’ve only been able to secure remote 1099 legal roles, despite interviewing for regular w2 positions for the last few years
