I love HelloFresh. Organic meats: salmon, chicken, steaks, ground beef. Granted veggies you need to process same day of delivery or they will wilt and go bad fast... convenient and good quality as well as recipes. I’ve not used other services. Good customer service too, we have only had to contact once and it wasn’t anything serious just delay in delivery of 1 of 2 boxes.
I personally don’t think they’re healthy, even tho the perception or content seem to be.
It takes some additional processing steps vs if you were to do your own groceries and control what you put in. However if timing is a big constraint, it’s a good alternative (assuming you’re cooking)
Just my 2 cents
Some are healthy, you just have to do your homework. You can select your menu every week and choose based on calories, dietary restrictions, etc. Green Chef has many specialty diets like keto. Freshly has fully cooked meals, but they get boring after a while.
I love green chef. Purple carrot is a great option too for healthier versions. Just need to be aware of salt content. Overall, meal delivery can be healthy, and usually is much healthier than eating out, but it of course varies widely on what menu options you choose.
If you’re ordering just for one person then it can be a lot of food. I found myself eating the same meal for 2 days. I agree with the comment above, Hello Fresh has healthy options and good quality ingredients. Blue Apron is also good.
Do you cook today? If not, get the ones that deliver straight food
I have used Freshly. I like to have some quick options, especially for lunch or busy season when I don’t have as much time to cook. These meals are an average of 500 calories.
I have heard good things about Blue Apron, but have not tried it myself. You cook this one.
I did Freshly too but stopped because it contains too much sodium
I got a mild case of food poisoning for one...
I’ve been doing blue apron almost every week during the pandemic, big fan. They have about 10 recipe choices a week - it’s always going to be healthier than take out or frozen food. Some are healthier than others (some have a lot of butter or cream) but you control how much of those ingredients you want to use.
