Fwiw, whole30 for one week really isn’t meant to feel effective and will probably not feel motivating. The book describes that you feel most of the positive benefits in weeks 3-4. I’ve done a couple rounds and highly recommend doing the full 30 or just not doing it at all. Short term sugar withdrawal is to be expected, I’d recommend making sure your meals have healthy fats and are substantial enough. It won’t curb the sugar withdrawal but it’ll make you feel satiated, which may be contributing.
I’d also recommend reading the book. It’s a good motivator and explains exactly why the 30 or more day time frame is recommended to benefit. This is all based on my experience and everyone will be different so do what’s right for you, but I felt a lot of positives. Good luck!

Drink water every time you crave something sweet or off the list
Have some good snacking veg (those are carbs) and protein-heavy snacks
A lot of that is habit, keep reminding yourself that. For motivation — think how insane it is that you’re craving sugar already. In 3 more weeks you could fundamentally and relatively permanently end that
Damn just looked up the list of foods you can eat and I’ve been doing the whole30 diet for years and had no idea. Literally all I eat is veggies, fruit, lean meat, eggs, nuts, oils, and black coffee. Now that I think about, I haven’t craved sugar/carbs in forever and sugar actually kinda makes me nauseous. Maybe this does work lol
I’ve lost 17 pounds in one month; another 13 and I’ll be good 😁.
Magnesium supplements help fight sugar cravings
Have a small piece of 95% dark chocolate. It will crush your sugar cravings instantly. That’s what I do. I’m also on my second month of whole 30.
100 cal packs of almonds + a glass of water or tea. When I’m deep in a Whole 30 almonds start to have all kinds of flavors for me lol - unsalted work for a sugar craving and lightly salted work for a salty craving. Also the obvious one... fruit! Unless you’re also tryna do a super low carb thing, but Whole 30 doesn’t have to be super low carb to be effective (I also second reading the book). Also learning to appreciate other flavors that would usually be overpowered by sugar is part of the experience/ will help with cravings - when it’s cold I like to cut up an apple and sprinkle some cinnamon on it then bake it in the oven until warm (or just microwave for a minute lol). Super simple, 2 ingredients, smells amazing.
