Just got laid off for the first time (startup). It was out of the blue.

Had one foot out the door anyways for a number of reasons, but am now super paranoid about how this will look for future employees.

I don't eat beef not so much as a Hindu religious stance but more culturally because I never grew up eating it and don't intend to now. Our family doesn't eat beef and we don't bring it home. My 5 year old daughter asked me why and I couldn't give her a thoughtful answer that didn't make me feel like a hypocrite (because I do eat meat ignoring animal cruelty) and the "religion" answer (this is what Hindus do) felt weak. Anyone else in a similar boat ? How did you handle that question?
