I’ve been running into weird happenings at my new firm learn of everything “I misunderstood” about my package. I don’t actually qualify for quarterly bonuses at a pro-rated billing rate; no 401ks till year 2; and the biggest—we don’t qualify for a raise unless we are here during the entire fiscal year. We have a 2100 billable req which I’m barely hitting. We also get paid below 6 figures. I learned that the new associates came is at least $10k over us. I graduated 2020–but 1st firm job. Advice?

Received reviews back from 3 partners who all said I am performing above my current class level (2nd year). Promotion by skipping a class year possible (i.e. 4th year instead of 3rd year)?

I accepted a job offer in April to start a few months from now, post clerkship. All conflicts/background check went smoothly etc. Since accepting my offer, the firm has increased their 1st year pay across the board to be higher than my offer was (which was, at the time, what 2nd yeas got). When should I reach out to the recruitment attorney leading up to my start date? Or should I? (Haven't spoken since May) Should I bring up the salary or just assume its higher?

Has anyone else noticed that a hugely disproportionate number of latinx big law attorneys seem to be white / white-passing?

I’m at a mid size transactional firm. I’m a total night owl and my partners have OK’d me starting the workday at around 11am because I regularly work until midnight or later. I get so much more done after dark! I still get some side eye from other associates, but 🤷🏽‍♀️

It happened again today. I was walking from my car into a building and remembered I had forgotten to lock my car. I had the urge to turn around but I remembered that the only valuable thing in my car was my work laptop. And I would cry tears of joy if someone broke into my car and stole my work laptop. Can anyone relate to this feeling?
