Are there careers that deal with financial markets that are less competitive/stressful than hedge funds/traditional investing careers? I want to do something that involves looking at markets, explaining trends and helping people manage their money based on said trends and their goals. Maybe this is asset management, but I was wondering what career path this could be and how realistic it is to get in as someone who's in his 30s and has been in more traditional corp fin roles previously

Pros and cons on getting a designation? Been considering going for the CPCU designation to gain some professional development. Which designation did you go for and why?

Accepting an offer in IBD, lateraling over from consulting. Opportunity of a lifetime for me so don’t want to lose it.
But timing is horrible. I joined the Army Reserves before this opportunity was on my radar. Interviewed over several months, got the offer, but shipping out in 1 month for training for 6 months.

So, I've tried a few different positions and still hate practicing law BUT I was approached about a contract role that won't have billable hour requirements and I won't be steeped (I think) into the law firm's toxicity, so I'm wondering if it could be the closest thing to a 9 to 5 for law. Pay is hourly which seems weird, but I would have time to devote to hobbies and life generally. Has anyone been tempted by or accepted these contract opportunities, and what's your hot take?

I've been applying to jobs for months but every position wants at least 2yrs of experience in real estate transactions, usually way more. I'm at 1yr+ doing HOA/condo work but have had no opportunity to do real estate transactions like I expected. Seems like the only way to get the experience is to have nailed a big law gig right out of school and get put into that practice.

I realized a slow pace at work is really bad for me. A couple years ago I was experiencing burn out from my fast paced job supporting transactions, and believed by moving to a slower job in a lower cost area, I would be sailing off to the sunset. Hi all, I have a question regarding retirement accounts. I am not sure if I should choose a Roth or 401k (company has 4+2% match). Currently 23, base salary is ~100k and investments have brought 45k this year which has me teetering between a 22-24% tax bracket. Wondering what the usual tax bracket is of people retired (around 65yo) as I’m not sure anything would bring in significant income with the exception of investments.
