Also, what’s the compensation like in Austin specifically? I would think the compensation would be different than Cupertino. Anyone have any offers or salaries for these positions in Austin?

Got to the agency and they said “all of our conference rooms are full.” So they proceeded to interview me at a table in the middle of a 50 person, silent, bullpen room. All 50 people could hear every response and most of them were watching me. Most nerve wracking experience of my life.
Any time I hear “scrappy” or “gritty” it raises a red flag in my head....in my experience it’s usually meant these agencies cut corners (usually bypassing strategy) or are just willing to bend over for any client request
😅 as1: I had a very similar experience. “All conference rooms are booked so let’s just hang out in the kitchen” it was lunch time and the entire fucking office was in there milling about. What in the actual fuck? Also the person interviewing me was the CFO. It was a strategy position.
One time a manager asked me what I like to do in my free time so I told her I run, bake, and do improv from time to time and she looked at me and said “that’s nice that you have hobbies, but you won’t have time for that here.” ..... why’d you even ask
CDs spent the entire time talking about all the things they hated about their precious agency.
A woman who would have been my manager asked me what novel I was currently reading. When I told her I don’t read novels and prefer long form journalism she completely soured on me
When the Head of Recruitment walks into the interview and immediately states that they can tell you won’t be a fit for the role but is willing to talk with you for a few minutes. Then rushes through yr case studies to get you out the door.
When they don’t let you meet the person you’ll be working with day to day. As a creative, that’s v important and I wish I would’ve saw that as a red flag, but here I am!
Met with a CCO who was super burnt out.
I once was interviewing for a position and the guy was trying to gloat about how hard they work as if it was a good thing. To me it sounded like they were way under staffed

When I asked about a typical day:
“So I start every morning completely overwhelmed...”
Nope
I was looking for a job to get away from awful GCD and toxic work environment; “CD” I interviewed with rolled her eyes at me when I’d answer her questions and interrupted Midway to ask another question. Then she informed me they weren’t even an agency and the job I can in for wasn’t what they were hiring for
no HR contacts...recruiting done by junior team members...long process..not responsive
Job kept changing each time I went in. 4 rounds of not knowing which team or role = nope. By round 2, I was just using it as practice.
Oh, another good one is when they need the client's approval or the client to interview me... Yeah, no!
“Scrappy” and “Nimble.” I fucking hate nimble.
Also “we don’t don’t do titles like jr or senior art director” = “we have no respect for the amount of skill and experience you have"
Once has a group interview at Havas. I asked the AE/AS what they liked to do for hobbies outside of work. They told me they didn’t have time for hobbies because they were too busy working and I should be prepared for that. Let’s just say I didn’t go back
"What year did you finish college?" #TrueStory
“Who’s your (sports) team?” 🤮
Interviewed with the Account Sup and was asked how comfortable I am “catering” to the team, if need be. I didn’t even wanna know what that entailed.
When I ask about company culture and there is a deep sigh.
When someone told me that the work is really hard but it will make my career.
When someone doesn’t seem interested in me or my skills and rambles on or gets distracted.
When I do a walk around and everyone looks angry/unfriendly.
When the company website is broken.
When they explain salary expectations with a lot of caveats.
