As an A3, I finally understand why people work so late in busy season. It’s because you don’t get any work done until 6 pm, when the pings and meeting finally slow down. I can’t work on something for more than 10 minutes without something else popping up.

Literally. The only time I can get some damn peace and quiet to get work done is at night when no ones buggin me. Started putting fake meetings on my schedule and marking my status as in a meeting or do not disturb during the day lol

like

Yeah I’ve def put fake meetings in my calendar. It’s better than like a 3-4 hour block because people know that’s fake. The other thing I started doing in the google calendar is using the “focus time” feature to put blocks in.

I’m a mgr in industry and my team pings me all damn day, my best work is done after 9 pm

Sometimes I wonder why I even bother working at 8am. I could sleep in til 11am or so and the same amount of work will be done cause I’m always up late doing it anyways. The distractions kill me.

What are some part time opportunities for CPAs? I enjoy the field as a whole but am already burnt out after just 1 year and want to use my CPA in a more sustainable way. I’d be interested in either working less than 40 hrs a week or working only part of the year, so I have time to pursue other interests/have a “fun” job. I have accepted a job offer and expect to start in two weeks. The new role is lateral in title. I requested multiple times for higher title as the job posting open to both AD and D level, but the company refused to offer at D level. I accepted the job anyway for expanding responsibilities.
While I am waiting for my start day, another company reached out and offers me a D role for same responsibility.
What should I do as I don't want to burn bridge, but I do want career progression. any advice?

I am an acting senior and am training 3 new hires. They are not doing well, so I often re-do their works even after I give them 2 pages step by step instruction. The problem is my manager and director don't see the problems (because those problems happen behind the scene) and think all the A1s are performing exceptionally well. The A1s and I are all associates, so I don't even have a chance to give them an official feedback (snapshot at pwc). How to address this issue to my manager and director?
