McKinsey & Company I am joining the McKinsey & Company Boston office in late July and searching for housing in the meantime. If I could get some insight on the ratio of days in the office vs work from home that would be super helpful!
If I need to come into the office regularly I will try to find a place close by.

I have talked to them before. It is a boom or bust kind of gig. Good years can be widely profitable. Bad years can be tight. High variability to comp if you can stomach it.
I thought it would be fun to go into the bankruptcy universe until they asked me to be a staff despite being a SM. Yeah no. It isn’t THAT interesting
Yup. You can’t expect a 1:1 experience equivalency going from audit to bankruptcy restructuring but reset the entire clock? F off.
Limited experience with them but won some work from them a couple years ago. Prior year returns had me scratching my head on several positions that needed to be addressed with client
Worked there as an associate! Comp was amazing - I made more as an A1 than senior 1. I’m still in touch with almost everyone I worked with there and there are a lot of smart people. However, it’s small so if you get stuck with a bad team then you’re not going to learn too much and won’t have too much of an out.
Tax. I went to Grant Thornton as senior 1 and basically got lowballed - salary was much higher but because of comp structure at Alvarez I ended up making more there as A1 than S1 at GT.
