You don’t need to differentiate, you can just show that you’re additive. If you’re selling $3-4m between the two of you it’s going to be tough. If you’re selling $10m between the two of you and the business you both are building can support two PPMDs then it doesn’t matter how different or not you are really.

A newly minted P can be supportive and a strong advocate, more sponsors supporting the case will make it stronger, so best to branch out and build a broader book under more senior leadership and other Ps. Good to diversify pipeline, clients, teams and book of business.
What about for EP? Is it pretty much written that he will make EP because he's been IP longer and we're both building this business together?
The P needs to make you part of the growth plan and advocate like hell that you can continue selling more as a P. It’s not so much about you differentiating then. Build a team under you to support the work and the economic argument should be a no brainer.
