I moved within nyc 2 years ago (brooklyn to manhattan) and the only U-Haul available that day was the 22’ truck which was way bigger than I needed. I thought driving it in the city felt fine, having never driven a truck like that before.

You’ll be fine, but as someone who move from Boston odds are whatever your moving it’s not worth the cost. Rent a large SUV/mini van instead.
I did Rochester -> nyc in the smallest truck model. It’s fine just be super careful with your blind spots (both sides)
Don’t think you can use the vans for out-of-city moves. The 10 foot should be fine tho
Totally fine. I just drove a 9’ cargo van from Atlanta to NYC and back a week ago. Much farther than Boston. 😄 It really depends on your comfort level!
I drove the smaller uhaul truck, bigger than cargo, from VA to NYC. I barely drive and made it out okay.
