Most of the time people still work because these projects have already received their money. So the government shutdown isn’t affecting much
However there were huge layoffs due to DOGE cuts because a lot of secured contracts were terminated abruptly
Some have been furloughed, some are still fine, and some are starting to use partial PTO now. Depends if your charges are for F&E or Ops type work.
Booz has never done layoffs during shutdowns. Some folks may get a stop-work order if they’re not able to keep working for some “structural” reason, like they don’t have a Fed on their job site and they can’t work from home, or some other weird reason. A lot of contracts use multi-year funding or other mechanisms to keep working, though. And if you do get a stop-work, Booz has options for training, internal projects, or administrative leave so you don’t have to waste your earned PTO (though this may have changed; I’m not there any longer).
BAH1 admit you are clueless
Thank goodness we (I) have passed this hurdle. GDIT, depending on your contact you either worked your regular hours or you used all of your available hours of leave, go 40 in the hole, leave without pay and then move to furlough status. None of this leave time was reembursement and in my opinion the company put on a false show of concern while sending a bill for missed benefit contributions.
Many of my friends are on PTO. Once they run out they will use unpaid leave.
