As we roll into another review season, genuine question: for those folks who consistently knock SPS out of the park (especially as SCs and above), what tactical advice do you have? Are there unwritten processes that you have applied to great success? Materials beyond the Academy that were a game-changer for you? Or key advice you received that helped flip a switch. Would love to hear from you and especially from those who used to struggle with it and turned it around.

I honestly think it’s about communicating your thought process and making sure you suggest approaches rather than rely on leadership to guide you. I don’t think that necessarily guarantees exceedings but it’s a start haha

Thank you M1, I appreciate it!

It's something that I struggled with for a long time as well, and honestly I don't have a good answer for you. I think over time I became more comfortable with the consulting process and not having anything more than a rough answer. Reps and feeling comfortable with being "creative" in how you get to an answer is sort of what happed with my after a few years.

I’d caution against “creativity for creativity’s sake”. I’d argue for logical thoughtfulness and explicit attack on unknowns and gaps.

I have an interview for an in house position (only attorney) at a small non-profit focused on conservation easements. I am a transactional associate at a mid sized law firm. The prospect of freedom from the billable hour and contributing to meaningful work are the draws. The cons are that while the salary at the non-profit would only be slightly less than what I am making now, pay increases and opportunities for advancement will be much less than where I am now. Thoughts on making the shift?

Deciding on a career path

I feel like my brain works like a consultant, and I would enjoy consulting, but I also looove all things finance & investing. While I don’t necessarily have extensive experience in the field (most of what I know is self taught, my major is accounting), I want to get involved in it somehow and learn more.

I currently work in audit, I’m not sure what exit opportunities are an option for me for the investing/finance industry. Feel like chances are are slim. Any advice?

Hi All, just sharing what on mind to vent it out from my system. Maybe with this I could gain some insights and inspiration.
I have been working as a data scientist since 2018 & have been the bread winner. I have neither been under a proper mentor nor with a team of peers from my field to help me out. I was alone and confused. I have never really got the chance to prove myself which makes me all the more depressed. I'm not sure what to do with my future, indecisive and low on confidence.

Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.
