Hello Gang, I’m on the business side for Walmart right now. Walmart Global Tech recently offered me a role to move to the San Bruno office, but I’d be taking a demotion from L6 to E5. YOE: 8, COMP(200k base, 25% bonus, 100k RSU). Is this competitive in the bay? I have Doordash and Instacart in the pipeline, but no final offers yet.

I thought it was standard to get 1 week per year of service with Omni agencies.
No omnicom layoff experience, but as a point of reference, this is what I received when I was laid off from an IPG agency last year (which my lawyer said was not amazing but pretty good):
* Severance of four weeks' pay for the first year there + an additional week for each additional year worked (so if your friend has been there 15 yrs, the equivalent would be 18 weeks of severance!)
* They paid for healthcare through the end of that month + 3 months of COBRA (I had to make the actual payment and then get reimbursed, but that took my healthcare costs down to $0 for 3 months, which was a huge help)
* My official last day was the Friday of the week of layoffs, which allowed me time to sort out things like using up my FSA
* Outplacement services that I didn't really take advantage of
* Kept my laptop
* I negotiated a less-restrictive non-compete
Good luck to your friend!
That’s shady, 1 week a year was their policy when I got laid off a few months ago. If your friend knows an attorney, I’d ask. Also do not sign the separation agreement.

1 week per year served is standard.
Your friend needs an employment lawyer.
It often depends on seniority/role in addition to tenure but what they received is pretty thin.
He started as an intern 15 years ago and has been a senior director there for 5 years now. Was on the same account the entire time and had clients he worked with from the jump who were just as pissed and shocked about his layoff. I think that’s why I wanted to post for him because I feel so bad. He was SO loyal to them and they are completely screwing him.
Lawyer up because that's wack!
Chief
Omnicom’s severance used to be 2 weeks for the 1st year, then one week for each additional year.
Your friend would’ve gotten 17 weeks severance had Omni not recently decided to screw loyal employees even more than they already have been these last few years.
Your friend should also use his/her client relationship to try to get hired by that client.
Tell your friend to seek out a reputable employment attorney
6 weeks for 15 years? That’s despicable, Omnicom. Tell him not to sign anything and seek out an employment attorney.
If he’s loved by the client, hopefully they can find a place for him. And then he can fire Omnicom. 😉
My partner has always negotiated severance before starting.
I initially thought it was an aggressive position but it was a smart move when they were let go one time due to a RIF. The company tried to invalidate the agreement but were informed by their counsel they would lose if it went to court.
