No. HR handles that, the partner decides if you get an offer and not much else. Under the cohort model, I’m curious if negotiations are even allowed anymore.
Senior has a wide salary range, so negotiate but know that a manager promotion will likely get you in line with peers. If you are a year or two away from manager then focus on potential promotion ability then actual comp in year one.
The partner is not the one setting the comp
The partner definitely isn’t setting the comp in your offer letter but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t absolutely negotiate / counter the first offer you get. If you’re qualified and we want you we’ll go to the top of the band to get you. Either go back to the recruiter or partner and say I’m excited about the offer but I’m looking for X comp and would sign immediately for it. The biggest mistake people make taking new jobs / service line transfers is not advocating for themselves on comp
