At this point I’d pay for someone to just give me a job with benefits. My current job is toxic. I’ve never had so many physical stress symptoms in my life. The bosses make fun of anyone who calls out sick in the office in front of everyone, the manager lies about other workers to make herself look better, and when I had my turn in the lying spotlight I was crushed by inappropriate scolding and put down comments. I’ve been applying for so many jobs for weeks and it’s starting to feel hopeless.

The best thing to do is keep looking for a better job. If you work around characters like that it really never gets better, it's not like some good version of them will show up some day. They're just toxic characters and that's that. Sorry to hear what you're dealing with, but you'll find something better, just stay persistent.

Right there with you. It's HARD. I had the same experience at my last job. I just had to resign, The entire organization was NOT organized. Very chaotic, toxic, intimidating and down right abusive. I'd been with the organization for over 18 years. Starting over is scary. Believe in yourself, be your own cheerleader and make things happen. Don't give up.

Hang in there. There are quite a number that don't have what you have and would kill to get that opportunity. Not to encourage toxic work environments, but hang in there. I'm just recovering from a failed business that left me homeless; I haven't seen my kids in a while and have had days without food, but I still haven't given up. so hang tight, a better chnace is coming your way soon

like

This sounds like a living nightmare. What is wrong with these people? Do they not have any shame or basic human decency? I don't think "toxic" is a strong enough word to describe that environment. I'm so sorry you're having to put up with it. I'm crossing my fingers that you'll get an offer that'll take you away from there soon.

Gosh, I am sorry to hear this. I am going through the same thing right now at my job. I have been looking for something new for over six months and still can't seem to find anything.

I have been out of work since May 2024. I would personally rather be homeless in the 115 degree heat in Phoenix than deal with people like that. But, I would probably get fired for insubordination because at 51 years old, I have neither the time nor patience for BS. I try to be tactful to avoid embarrassing people, but as I get older, my give a damn is wearing very thin.

South Houston here. 15+ in HR Administrative…
I quit my last job of 12 years because of toxic “Good Ol’Boy “ mentality. When the regional Director goes down several times for SA… I’m out.
I have zero social media to speak of and hoping I can roll into a place that isn’t toxic. I’m old and just need a job

like

I am sorry to hear that this is happening although the job market and economy are a mess right now which I have been out of work since late February 2025. I would take a job in a toxic environment compared to no job at all. I would suggest just trying to ignore all the toxicity, do the best you can at work, and also keep applying to find a way out. Has the toxicity at work been reported to HR?

like

Keep looking - You'll find something! Highly Toxic! Holy moly 😦

Literally same it is so common for small business to have a toxic work environment and be filled with people on power trips I pray you find something new and better

I'm sorry. My daughter has dealt with toxic jobs like this, and I have in the past as well. Don't give up. I lost the best job I've ever had due to layoffs. I just turned 59, and I've been passed up by a lot of jobs, and I believe it's due to my age. It's been 9 months, but I have an interview today and I'm hopeful.

There are many, many people unemployed who have been searching for over a year for work. I know it’s disheartening but please just keep at it. The fact that you’re still working gives you an advantage over those who are unemployed, trust me. I seriously sympathize with your predicament though, and I think you’re absolutely doing the best thing by looking to get the hell out of Dodge.

like

I'm sorry to hear about your situation, but instead of having to apply to jobs all by yourself why don't you have someone help you with your job search instead? There's this service that've been referring to people who are having issues with securing a job and you can reach out to them at www.fiverr.com/sharah_resume

I’m so sorry. My role is part time. They lowered my hrs from 18 to 12 a week so now I’m getting paid even less than I was when I was hired 2 yrs ago and I’m just so frustrated. I really want to find somewhere else to work, but I haven’t found a place yet. I really want to move to the next job for certain reasons, but I can’t afford not to work while finding somewhere else. I also can’t just work 12 hrs a week. I’m about to start online school as well in hopes to pick up more skills, but finding the right place to work that suites my needs at the moment is making me miserable.
I hope you find the change you need soon. I realize I’m not the only one going through this. It’s so hard

Sounds like my old job smh

How many interviews is too many? I’ve done 5 one on ones with different people in the practice group. They want me to talk to a few more, but I’m frustrated. It’s so hard to find time to schedule these things and the associates don’t seem to understand I can’t just take them in the middle of the work day at work. Recruiter thinks it’s a good sign. FWIW they haven’t communicated to me position level they’d expect.
