I started working at 16 but started investing at the age of 28. My teacher told me that I should start investing as soon as I can.
I agree!
Do not wait! Check out Ramit Sethi
Started at 22 - it wasn’t a ton. My goal was $50/month and gradually went higher.
Good for you! That's young
Even if you can only invest a small amount right now, do it. $50 a month now is better than nothing. Do an automatic withdrawal to a high interest savings account or to a vanguard fund and you will thank yourself 10000x later. You won't miss that money. I promise.
I have a HISA but I don't invest my money really because I simply don't feel I have enough money to put into an investment. Like, I'm trying to buy a house and will need to pull that in less than a year's time, ideally.
I'm 32 and I have yet to start investing. So much of my income goes towards staying alive and paying off debt that I can't really think about planning for the future like that. It sucks, and I really want to do it but it doesn't seem to be in the cards at the moment. Maybe if my debt gets erased that'd be nice.
You guys should listen to Ramit Sethis podcast or read his book “I will teach you to be rich”. The last episode talked about how when you’re 50/60 you may be debt free but then you’d have nothing saved/invested.
Start now! I opened a STASH acct. It’s a fun and very inexpensive way to begin investing and learning! If anyone wants to open one, let me know and I can send you a link. Where we both get something for you opening one! I think it’s a great APP and tool to invest at 20.00 or whatever you want per month. I am not a stocks guru, but it lets you purchase incrementally plus, they do offer an IRA option too!
I agree, do it now! You won’t miss it, and many of your employers might offer a pre-tax deduction to help you as well.
I started when I was 18 but really just a little here and there. I have never been great about it but I have tried to put a little bit into investing. Its somethig I want to be better about this year.
