At what point did you feel like you were a “good lawyer”?
I’m a couple of years out of law school and recently started to feel like I had found my footing. However, I had an MSJ that I was initially pretty proud of completely torn apart today, and it has me feeling pretty discouraged.
Has anyone else been told they weren’t the strongest writer as a junior attorney and completely turned that around? What did you do to improve?

How long did it take you to become good at excel? Like fast?

Any advice for Fla business that may have to let go of staff? 20-25 emp; furniture mftg. Don't practice employment and they can't afford lawyer that does. They want to comply with laws.

I knew that MBB and other consulting firms rarely ever negotiate salary with new grads, so I didn't with Capital One as well. Was that a mistake? I have a governmental entity client in Texas that wants to offer 6 weeks of paid parental leave for all employees, even those who aren’t eligible for FMLA. After the paid 6 weeks, the employee can choose to continue paid leave using any accrued personal leave.

Texas does not have a paid parental leave statute.

If paid leave above what is required is offered for parents, do we also have to provide the same benefit to other employees that are eligible for unpaid leave?

Hello, I’m an associate (almost at the one year mark) at a midsize firm on the EPL team. I did about 2 years of employment law as a clerk during school and know that’s what I want to go into. I’ve asked for more EPL work but keep catching PI cases. I second-chaired an employment trial but don’t see any EPL work for the foreseeable future and wasn’t getting as much EPL exposure as I wanted before the trial. Any advice on a lateral move to a bigger firm with a broader range of EPL work?
