How to get release from an important project?
Additional Posts in Consulting
Guys there’s this boot camp that I came across that trains people to get jobs in Top consulting firms and has a fee plan wherein you pay once you get placed. I just wanted to know if someone here has any experience with this ?

A month should be ok as they know you are still working and have other priorities and need time to prep.
Additional advice:
My first piece of advice is approach case interviews as hypotheses testing
Secondly, framing and approach is everything. I'd recommend opening magazines and newspapers and if there's an interesting business problem, pretend it's the opening of a case and layout what frame work you would use to solve it. The interviewer can tell within the first few minutes of a case whether someone is on or off track.
And finally always conclude cases with a top down approach where you make a recommendation and back it up with data/findings.
Good luck OP and I hope you get a job that makes you super happy.
Would you actually study for the entirety of that month though? I imagine most would still leave it to the last minute
I had a first interview late March (2018) and asked for 6 week pause to finish professional exams - they said fine and give a call when I free up. Did the interviews over May/June in the end and got in.
If you’re prepping diligently, you’ll be over prepared with a full month. 20 cases and you’re more than ready.
Hey everyone, was able to get through first rounds! Thanks for all the advice. A follow up question I have for the BCG folks here is how different are second round partner interviews than first rounds? Things I should be more aware of? Let me know anything you think would be helpful! Thanks!
Congrats, good luck!
Yes, you can have an honest chat with the recruiting team about what you need to be best prepared.
I advise all my buddees to ask for 2-4 weeks depending on how ready they are and how much time they have to prep. Don’t go to an interview without some preparation - it’s a waste of time for both
Wish I knew this. I asked recruiter to delay by a month due to some travel....she said no :(
For EH hiring Recruiting has certain times that they prefer to start candidates. If you miss that gate then they have to wait to interview you and then the hiring needs may change. This is what happened to me.
My brother had an interview with BCG. The recruiter reached out to him on LinkedIn. He is a PhD and had no clue about case interviews. He asked for 5 weeks for the first round and another 4 weeks for the final round. Got the job. Just sharing an example. He is highly specialized. It also depends on the recruiter and the urgency of the hiring.
Thanks everyone for the help and advice. Appreciate it!
