Book recommendation: can anyone recommend a good leadership book for aspiring (not current) people managers? Perhaps on how to get to the leadership level, or how to lead effectively as an IC. Cheers!
Interested to hear how people learn project management. I have done PRINCE2 exam and read PMP materials, but I find these are too textbook theory based. Real life projects seem to be very different and a lot more complicated. I often do not know what needs to be done unless someone tells me. I believe you can learn these things on the job, but I am keen to expedite this with some books or courses. Are there any resources that are particularly helpful?
Looking for book recommendations; any favorites? Interested in both fiction and educational/self-improvement (for example, investment / finance books, time management, etc). I feel my vocab is...
I’m 33 years old. I have a decent amount of experience under my belt. Over the phone, recruiters and hiring managers say they love my book. But when I’m brought in for an in-person interview...
Best books about management consulting?
Hello! I am looking to get into Product Management. Does anyone have any advice on the best way to get into it? Best certifications to take? Any books or courses as well? Any insight would be helpful. Thanks!
Are there any good movies or novels that show skill development - like follow through? Self-management? Money management? I read a lot of self help books so I know a lot of the theory, and books peppered with examples help, but I feel like most 1 paragraph examples don’t five justice to how hard it may be to change a behavior.
How do you improve selling-idea skill as an analyst? For example, if I have a tech idea, how do I communicate that to non-tech people (manager and above). Any learning resouces that I take a look? Books, videos, courses? :)
Any suggestions for anger management books?
My teammate is leaving for a new opportunity soon and I will be floating by myself for a few months. Would anyone be able to provide me with any solid books that pertain to our field? I'm open to anything for creative, people manager 101, digital marketing, career motivating, etc. Trying to swim along to find my new normal and be self motivated.
Any recommendations for good business books (preferably on general management or economics)?
Looking for recommendations on good books to read on people management, building relationships, and using those relationships to influence/drive actionable change in complex environments. TIA!
Looking to learn more about growth product management. Any recs for articles/people to follow/videos/books to learn more about this type of PMing?
What are some highly recommended people / team management books? Leading my first team right now and am looking for insight into conflicting personalities, working styles, etc.
What are some good books to read, materials or classes about how to be a more effective PM? And about communication management, recos are gladly accepted.
I was asked by a friend for a few management consultant books (similar to liar's poker in the finance industry) to check out. The only one I can think of is Peter Drucker's Adventures of a Bystander (good but not too much consulting)... any suggestions! 😁
We are hiring staff/managers (not to manage their own book). It’s been hard finding people who are Registered, driven, detail oriented, etc. Besides LinkedIn, where else can we look?
I don’t think I have enough saved (80-100k) to justify a financial advisor. But I also was never taught/learned about money management and planning. Are there any good resources or books in which I could learn about how to invest in my retirement?
For people in consulting - do you often read books about project management and motivation? Would appreciate your recommendations (preferably the ones with more than one thought for the whole brick of text 🤨).
One of our older advisors is about to retire so his book will be split amongst us junior advisors. What can I do to pitch myself to him and to management to earn the bigger accounts?
Hi fishies 🐠 I’m an Art Director that’s trying to transition over to UX Design. I have experience building websites and some previous freelance work doing some UI/UX. What’s the best route to transition over and would I need to apply for entry level roles? Does an AD role with a UI/UX focus even exist? I enjoy the thinking of UX design and am comfortable designing interfaces but I’m mostly unsure of the process of working with an UX team. Would love to hear your thoughts!
Trying to decide between two portfolio ops roles, both in the Bay Area: Small-ish VC firm, ~135k base + 35k bonus Medium PE firm, ~115k base + 115k bonus Which would you choose? I’m leaning towards the PE firm bc it’s more hands-on, faster learning curve, and higher TC, but the VC role seems to have a better WLB and generally sounds cooler (getting exposed to VC vs continuing in the corporate world). What do you think?
Is Partner/Principal pay at the B4 equivalent to the pay of those ACN MDs/senior level roles?

So this weekend I found out that my favorite bar in NY is now childfree. Being a parent I can only have time to go to a bar during the day, with my kid. they have a swell backyard. 😕
Started at a new firm 3 months ago, first two months was swamped staffed on a huge deal, (my only file) did my hours everything good. July: deal was supposed to close did not due to regulatory stuff but my work stream is done and over and am now really really slow, asked for work to people I had worked with to help them close - nothing, staffed on a new deal , client on vacation so everything is on stand by. I’m freaking out don’t know how to reach to partners/senior associates (ctd in comments)
