How long is the cooldown period for BCG?
McKinsey & Company Hey folks!
Was wondering what sort of life sciences projects does usually the Boston Consulting Group and McKinsey & Company take on?
Commercial, access and pricing, M&A, transformation, implementation? (all of them perhaps?)
Basically, what would someone with an LS background be mainly working on in these firms on a day-to-day basis?
Thanks!

Honestly it doesn’t really matter. The progression at BCG is super fast. The key is to get in… I think you need to over index on why BCG is right for you and ask pertinent questions. Even if you come in as a SA, you will be up for promotion to a C in a year or so, and PL 2 years after that.

With 6 YOE you should be considered for consultant, our post mba role, which has a base of 175 and a bonus range of 12.5-25%, along with a signing bonus and 401k contribution

You will not be able to negotiate any part of your comp except maybe the signing bonus. It is standardized across cohorts
Role would be based in Chicago if that helps your calculus.
You should target Senior Associate at minimum. If you have a history of promotions and/or are acting as a manager, you could push for Consultant.
Rough total comp is:
- Associate: 100-110k
- Senior Associate: Unsure
- Consultant: ~200k
Believe senior associate comp is closer to associate than consultant (maybe 120-130?).
Its 175, potentially up to 230
