Unlimited pto is to good to be true, there will still be expectations plus you won't have an accrual to be paid out when you leave.
If you jump from big 4 to a non big 4 it’s a super super downgrade...
I'm skeptical of unlimited PTO overall but since it hasn't technically started yet here it's too early to tell. Almost my entire team of managers is on a flex schedule and seem really supportive of us taking time off during slow periods. However I am in the central region. It looks promising.
I’m working 94% of my hours and they just take that percentage of what my salary would be if I’m not a reduced schedule
Very high turn owner in the NY office in tax
Not only in the Tax team. Turnover in NY seems high to me.
Op have you already applied? I work in NYC tax. DM me.
Thanks! I sent you a DM.
I have unlimited PTO at my firm and it does have a too good to be true factor. We have budgets that we have to be in charge of getting our charge hours. They say it’s unlimited PTO but they have an unwritten rule that you should only use about 160 hours a year
And for anyone that switched from Big 4 to Baker Tilly, do you regret the move? And what are the biggest differences you’ve noticed? Thanks in advance!
In BT there is more WLB overall. In B4s there is a more homogeneous culture and work environment. In BT the culture depends on the office you are joining. There are huge cultural differences (and salaries even) between offices as the firm has grown through M&A. Chicago, DC (Tysons) and Philly are perhaps the best places to be. Client wise you will be working with middle market companies versus big sexy multinationals. One thing you will lose is your B4 badge. I'm constantly being hit in LinkedIn by recruiters because of my B4 experience, not becuase of my BT years, definitively more interested in my B4 experience. Consider all those factors before making a decision. It depends on what it is relevant for your career.
Nyc BT tax sucks. Slave hours. Rude partners. Don’t do it.
