Bain is the Deloitte of MBB.
That’s a +1 for bain in my books
Pro
Bain has better culture. Deloitte has better work-life balance.

You’ll probably find 1-2 Bainies who’d give up some comp for better WLB. However, they wouldn’t switch to Deloitte, because the WLB delta isn’t big enough, and there are other advantages at Bain vs. Deloitte.

Both are the laggards in their cohorts?
Bain is Tier 1, Deloitte is Tier 2. Agree with MC1, Bain has better culture and assuming D has better work-life balance, but probably for significantly less money.
^You’re right actually. The obsession with Deloitte is weird man.
Rising Star
One’s like Harvard and the other is, well, Bain.
Straight from the big D!
I think calling Bain a pure strategy firm is inaccurate. Bain isn’t like McK or BCG due to the fact they pretty much own the PE DD market. Almost no one goes to them for pure strategy work (outside PE).
Culture-wise, I found Bain to be more like a bank than a consulting firm. Which actually makes total sense due to the heavy skew to PE... D is like the Walmart of consulting. We do everything but your experience here with have the most variation (for better or worse).
EY = Trader Joe's?
Can't speak about Bain but I do love me my Deloitte network. Exceptionally creative coworkers that have taught me a thing or two. Dan as consulting CEO is a win.
Now, see? There's your mistake right there; you assume both have work-life balance.

Bain is pure play strategy and is deemed higher prestige in industry. Deloitte spans a broader segment of strategy to delivery and everything in between. Depends on what your focus and goal is. Some of the comments above aren’t incorrect as wlb will be better in non-strategy roles just given the work and client realities. Network wise MBB will always be tighter knit and much more helpful than Deloitte or other consulting firms. If you are seeking wlb then stay at Deloitte, however if you are seeking to build your brand then I’d suggest spending time at Bain. You will always find tier 2 firms willing to hire you after tier 1 experience.
When I was at Bain it was closer to Banker hours (60-80)
Deloitte has good work life balance. I work on average 35 hours per week. Some weeks are bad but Usually around 45-50.
