You are giving others too much control and power over how you are spending you energy. You cannot control them. You can 💯 control your reaction to them.
*Care react * nobody should feel that way, most of all at work. raise to HR if you haven’t already and don’t let them get to you
Unless you work for Miranda Priestly, you were not hired and promoted to manager because of your fashion sense. There is truly no end to unkindness. We see it everywhere, much too often.
If you want to improve your fashion sense, I suggest joining Reddit and checking out the fashion-related subreddits. See what other people are posting. People post their "outfit of the day" and ask for feedback. Most people who give feedback are actually kind. I know Reddit has a bad reputation but there is also much kindness there.
Someone from work said that to you? Inappropriate (unless you are wearing inappropriate-for-work outfits like halter tops / flip flops but that I’m doubting that’s the case) and is straight up bullying. I’m sorry that’s happening to you.
That being said - i get ideas for work outfits esp staples via instagram, lots on there that’s helpful! I like getting basics / staples from H&M that can easily be mixed / matched, other places have good options, too.
Black/white/grey shirts, dark pants. Maybe throw in some navy if I’m feeling absolutely wild.
Hating others is easier than facing your own hate for yourself...
Oh. Was that rhetorical?
Correct, VP1
I'm not a fashionista, but I do think I have taste and can spot good stuff for my type and personality. That said, because I care little about fashion, I wear basics aaaaaall the time. Jeans and a plain t shirt, a plain jacket, a plain hoodie... and then throw in some cool sneakers, or a bit of colour with an accessory. Also, the comment is their fault, not yours and you shouldn't have to change if you don't want to.
Not that you should do this because you should feel comfortable with the people you work with, but outside of work I wear whatever I want but at work I’m basically a cartoon character going through the same bland colored clothes. Keeps outfits easy and one less thing to worried about in the morning.
Me too, I dress like a slob and my hair well that's another topic. Oh well. Life is hard. Do your best.
