Can someone tell me exactly what role the military plays in international relations and diplomacy? Anything on that front? What positions would be related to that?

The military plays a significant role in international relations and diplomacy, particularly in matters related to national security and defense. Some of the ways the military contributes to international relations and diplomacy include:

Deterrence: The military can serve as a deterrent to potential adversaries, discouraging them from taking aggressive actions that could lead to conflict.

Diplomacy through military exchanges: Military-to-military exchanges can help promote international cooperation and understanding, and build relationships between countries.

Humanitarian assistance and disaster relief: The military can provide critical assistance in humanitarian crises and natural disasters, both domestically and internationally. This can help promote goodwill and positive relations between countries.

Peacekeeping and stability operations: The military can be deployed to assist in peacekeeping and stability operations, helping to restore order and promote stability in conflict zones.

Counterterrorism: The military can play a key role in countering terrorist threats and protecting national security interests.

There are a variety of positions related to the military's role in international relations and diplomacy. Some examples include:

Military Attache: Military attaches are military officers who serve in embassies and other diplomatic posts around the world, representing their country's military and promoting military-to-military relations.

Defense Attache: Similar to military attaches, defense attaches serve in embassies and other diplomatic posts and are responsible for promoting defense cooperation and coordinating military activities between countries.

International Relations Officer: International Relations Officers work within military branches or government agencies, and are responsible for managing international relationships and developing policies related to international cooperation and security.

Political-Military Affairs Officer: These officers work to build and maintain relationships between the military and other government agencies, and may be involved in developing policies related to international security and defense.

Foreign Area Officer: Foreign Area Officers specialize in specific regions of the world and serve as experts on the political, economic, and social dynamics of those regions. They may be involved in developing policies related to military and diplomatic engagement in those regions.

Overall, the military plays an important role in international relations and diplomacy, and there are many career paths related to this field.

I spoke with a recruiter recently about a position in her company and before we even began talking about the job, she asked if I needed an sponsorship, I told her no, I dont need one. But she continued to press on the subject until I had to tell her I was a US citizen. I dont know why, but the whole conversation made me extremely uncomfortable. So my question is, can recruiters ask you about your visa/immigration status even when I told her I didnt need a sponsorship??

Got an offer from a startup for 19.5LPA.
Its base is 15L, and I'll be getting 124800 in-hand.

I have 3.5 yoe in typescript/react/NEXTjs fullstack. Out of which only 10 months are on a full time role, rest of time was freelancing.
I am also an open source contributor for some NEXTjs related tooling.

Is this a good offer?

What is the average amount of time to fill a role? How long in advance should a recruiter start working with a hiring manager to get their position posted? I think it depends on the industry but curious to hear if there is a national average and if that number is even realistic given the increased number of roles in the market. Also curious to know what average numbers some of you are seeing in your companies.

Currently interviewing with Apple and anticipating an offer however, I’ve applied for the same role at Meta. I’ve reached out to a few recruiters on LinkedIn but haven’t heard back. Hoping someone here may be able to help? Not sure how the referral process works but I’d assume that I would have to do that before applying?

For the people who went back to school to pursue a totally different career, what did you do for work? I don’t think I’d be able to do both my current job and school. I did retail in college and that probably isn’t so smart right now. Neither is working at a restaurant. I don’t think I can go back and live with my parents. I feel like I’m stuck.

How do I figure out spending with my SO? Initially I was paying for 90% of stuff (no actual bills, just going out). I talked to her and said we need to be more even. She was never proactive. She kind of got offended but we ended on a good note to split things. It went well for a couple weeks but now it's back to normal. She never takes out her card and only venmos me if I send her the request. She lets Venmos sit for weeks before paying them. I still let a lot of things slide.
