Everyone at Wharton graduates with a degree in Economics with chosen concentrations, one of which is most definitely accounting. That wasn't my point though. It's a silly comparison because every industry has big names, but that doesn't mean there's any relation to "ivy league." I don't know how you guys at EY manage to get any work done carrying these giant chips on your shoulders
Lowe's is the Princeton of retail home improvement!
I feel like this is a post to boost your ego...
It's actually an analogy, but I understand that you're just upset because no one else wants to join your Big 4 ivy league circle jerk.
Much easier to get into big 4...
So its even easier to get into RSM. That's good to know
Sure, in the sense that waiting tables at Olive Garden is like working at the ivy league of chain restaurants. Real ivy league grads are going to mbb and investment banks
Coming from someone who has worked at small, regional, and Big 4 (KPMG), I can tell you that I would agree with this post. Your basically saying the comparisons lie in 1) Competitiveness to get in 2) Opportunities available when you “graduate" (4 years let’s say to keep the analogy going). So you leave big 4 as a senior. Your probably going to have the best opportunities available for someone who has 4 years of accounting experience. Just like graduating from Ivy League- you will have the best opportunities available to you. But guess what...we are all accountants at the end of the day. The offers “alumni” @ big 4 get after 4 years in PA won’t really be that much more than say a RSM, Baker Tilly, or Moss. (Your “state schools”) 10%-20 more salary. 30% more at absolute max. If you go to say Harvard vs. LSU...the Harvard graduate is making 400% more at least.
Entire point being - stop making silly comparisons to make yourself feel better. Congrats your at the Big 4. EY is great. Would love to hear what school you went to. But you seem like the kind of person to lie about it since there’s no way to fact check on this thing
Sure
This is a stupid thread.
I said the ivy league of ACCOUNTING. So all of that other shit doesn't matter. Accounting isn't even taught at the best schools - so pwc1 your point is irrelevant.
Wait so you guys are all saying if we went to an Ivy League and are in big 4, I messed up...?
They teach accounting at Wharton...
EY2 are you being disparaging towards people who work at Lowe's?
Prestige wise yea big 4 is the best in the cpa world. That being said, nobody really cares or knows what the big 4 is unless you are in the industry....i don't even tell people where I work anymore because I hate explaining what it is and what they do. Anytime I say I'm an auditor people think I work for the irs.
Accounting isn’t taught at the best schools? Lol wut? Columbia has an accounting program...last I checked it was an Ivy League School
Nope, I worked there through college and maintain strong friendships with my old colleagues.
They're at the top with Home Depot, with regard to market share and name recognition. Isn't that the story that you're selling here?
What a bunch of dweebs arguing over nonsense, get a life
They teach it but people don't major in it and definitely don't go into the field of audition books. Op I agree with you
