I think it's more important to always have plan B. And save. You don't want to be destitute the day you're laid off. Prepare for a rainy day
The former SS&G partners are next in line to catch the ax. They are just awful.
Those who know they'll be laid off, know bdo
^Mark??
It just shows firms don't give a shit about you individually and on the flip you should always do what's best for you and don't take extra work or miss family events etc for the firms. If you get a good offer to leave, take it and don't ever feel bad.
11 people were let go, so I would classify that as a layoff. Some of the people who were let go were poor performers but most of them wouldn't have been let go for performance if our office hadn't been given an exact number of how many employees needed to be gone
Bdo Pitt is a terrible office. Speaking from experience
RSM 3 I always take on extra work and sometimes I miss family events. I do this for me and not for the firm. I believe these things are investments in my career. The firm is in business to make money and create opportunities for its people. Things work very nicely for me when my goals are compatible with the firms. If my goals ever become at odds with the firm, I will try to change the situation and if I can't I will consider leaving
I think the partners are getting cut in a couple weeks from what I hear.
Exactly what he said. Save whatever you can for your rainy day fund. Being jobless is a lot easier when you have money to get around still.
What office OP? Seems like it's happening nationwide. These acquisitions are killing us.
Tax had a few in Northeast Ohio, Audit got slaughtered. 11 in total as well.
Dallas laid off/fired 3 staff low performers. There was a senior who "quit" just in time but would have been part of that group. I think ours were truly cutting low performers. Sorry to the other offices. Unsettling times. @rsm2 😂
Suburban Chicago Tax fired 3 low performing associates, 1 of which was absolutely terrible. Audit got hit with 3, 2 associates and 1 senior manager. Yet, they just brought back one tax senior this week who quit in December on us....Fuck that guy.
I have sent many RIFS over the years and I would say no need to jump right a way but evaluate your position and always look for opportunities to improve your options
Was it a true layoff or letting go of lower performing employees? It's important to see the difference, but your resume should always be ready to go.
It was audit Pittsburgh BDO1.
Who knows if tax side will have more coming
If i were in your shoes i would find a new position (either new practice or industry) as quickly as possible. Layoffs show that the practice is not in good shape.
Which office ?
