I have received an offer in TCS accepted it and submitted the documents for BGC. The CTC i mentioned is 13L in iBegin portal and uploaded the same recent hike letter. But my current company retracted my offer of 13L and salary/payslip are with old offer and i have submitted documents with new offer letter which is 13L. I am little concerned it might impact negative on my BGC.. Any suggestions . please Tata Consultancy

Feels pretty normalized to me. I think I've discussed salary expectations in all my first meetings.

Tbh I prefer to talk salary later after a better sense of the role and scope too but times have changed. Too many low ballers and bait and switch.
About 3/4 into the call after they've described the role (and/or company) and I've given my own background and my reaction and considerations for the role, I'll ask what's their hiring budget for the role.
Usually the number is lower and I'll tell them I think this is the market average for said role, or this is about what I expect or too close to what I'm on, or scope vs salary.
I'll ask them if there's any room there and they're usually pretty up front and might talk about total comp.
I'll take that into account and if I think this could be an opportunity beyond just money or it's close enough that I think there's wiggle room, we'll agree to move forward and see what happens. So this becomes more of a fishing expedition 🎣
I've found it's mostly how we talk about it, in a rational reasonable manner, using their language like "budget for the role", "hiring budget", "scope" and responsibilities, as opposed to "how much is the pay/salary" vs this is how many YOE I got that shifts their perception of who they're talking to. You present yourself as someone who knows the business and can negotiate objectively vs someone who's on the receiving end of whatever they dangle.
Purely my own experience and IMO. YMMV.

Nope - I agree with and applaud your vision but I more, specifically, it should be a legal mandate for the range to be stated in job advertisement.
Yes to this! I no longer apply for positions that do not state the salary range in the job description.
Can we normalize discussion and transparency of salary ranges within a given title? The secrecy and wide variances hold down costs to a company, but also leads to distrust and division.
I'll do you one better... Let's normalize putting a salary range in every job description. I put a lot of effort into every job application to make sure I'm tailoring my strengths to the role's needs. That's 20-40 minutes per application potentially wasted if we're far apart on salary expectations.

OMG please say it louder for the people in the back. Why are we still gatekeeping salaries? It drives me NUTS.
I’d prefer to have the salary discussion AFTER I’ve had a chance to actually interview with the person(s) I’d be working for/with. This gives me a chance to present my skills and experience to someone who speaks the same language, thus can gauge my value correctly. My experience with first calls have been HR or Talent scouts who honestly do not fully understand the role they are recruiting for. They always ask for my salary expectations, which is where I get crossed off the list.
