Capco ATP program starts at 75k now I believe. There may be a 5k sign on as well. I’d say the only positive of taking the Capco offer would be its reputable FS client base. You will have endless opportunities to work for some of the best FI’s. Big 4 is better brand.
Rising Star
A1 is correct on the base and signing bonus. I would agree our client base is good, we have our fair share of top tier clients given our relatively small size and (admittedly) brand disadvantage to the big4.
I've not worked at the big4, but many friends of mine who have tell me that our junior resources are given far more opportunities to be client facing. I know from my own experience, I am happy to give junior resources the shot at speaking up and leading.
There are trade-offs either way, I can only say it's worth considering.
Big 4 will almost always serve you better than Capco in terms of branding.
If you go Big 4 -> Capco, you’ll almost always get paid more than Capco homegrown talent, since they really prize Big 4 experience. Also Capco does much more PM staff aug than Big 4, but both do it.
That said, it depends on what type of risk work you’ll be doing. Risk isn’t always the sexiest place to be. However, Capco does a lot of FS tech and risk work, so it might not be all that different
Go to big 4 first. The branding helps a lot early in your career.
If you plan to get an MBA anyway, then Capco would be a better opportunity. Many fewer people apply to business school from Capco, so you could stand out more. And in the near term, at big 4, you can easily get stuck in risk, but at capco, you have somewhat more flexibility to get on a variety of types of work.
