Analyst: $90k-140k (I think)
Associate: $150k-$250k
VP (still junior): $200-$300 (maybe $350k in a very good year)
Director (senior analyst): $350-750k
MD: $750k to maybe $3ish million (very few making $3mn these days - like a handful in the industry )
Titles in ER start at Associate and then move up to Analyst. It’s reversed...
The job titles are reverse but at the bulge bracket firms, everyone goes through the same hierarchy from analyst to MD whether they are in sales, research, or banking
Yeah. Your numbers look way high
Can attest to BAML1
No shot ^ these numbers are way off. You’re more likely making $600k as MD with very few exceptions. No analysts are making $140k besides Evercore ISI. Think like $115k. Overall these numbers are ridiculously high.
Pretty sure these are pretty accurate at the bulge brackets. I know MDs at small firms who top out at $500k but I don’t know any MD analysts at the big firms that are making that little (trust me I know the MD pay scales) In fact, most directors will top that. As for the the ranges on the juniors, I admit I might be wrong on the ranges but the point was to have the top to be your company right before promotion. Certainly first year analysts aren’t making $140k.
As a 2nd year analyst at GS made $130K. I’d say $140K for 3rd year is reasonable (this includes bonus)
This comp is ridiculously low compared to M&A
Don’t believe that comp for a second @GS1. Your bankers would be almost on par with your comp, and (sorry) GS research is pretty bad reputation-wise. You have also lose massive amounts of trading volume over the best few years, which research is essentially a cost center for. That’s undoubtedly inflated.
JPM and EVC pay highest and my roommate (at one of the two) makes ~$120k all in as a second year..
Why wouldn’t it be low? It’s a cost center
Anyone know IBD pay for same levels?
