Had one last year but was newer, less leverage. Doing it this year, would still recommend it.
DD1 hit it on the head. There's a few factors, all of which make absolutely no sense and management trips over their own words when answering them. Non target school MBAs are brought in as C's, while target school MBAs are brought in as SCs. Then the pay gap is 30-40% less just to start, signing bonus is 10-15k for Cs vs +30k for SCs and the bonus eligibility is different too.
C to SC, early promotion and 1, got a 23% merit and 4.6% promo, putting me at exactly 100k (24k increase) base with a 23 K bonus ... I literally started crying tears of joy it was so unexpected
Huh? Our MBA's come in as SC's. Did you do a part time or something?
When I made SC (4 years ago) I was making way less than you.. the firm eventually caught me up. DHC's always get screwed though comp wise.
Well Target school MBAs get 140, new direct hire SCs get at least 125, so to not even get that number is ridiculous. (After a 1 rating)
So MBA hires from target schools come in at 145k, so you are not far off. What school did you go to?
Don't worry OP I have. Even with being with the firm 6 years and being a second year SC, I only got a 4% bump bringing me to a sopping 106k, makes me sick and not even want to get on that plane this morning.
I had a comp call last year..nothing came of it. My merit last year with 3 rating was 3.7%, almost identical to my merit raise this year with a 2 rating and a promo.
I'm in almost the exact same boat as u OP. I plan to jump ship. I've had enough of this 2nd class citizen treatment as a DHC.
You think that's bad...C to SC in Federal with Masters, got a 12% hike and I'm not even at 90.
Geeze. I didn't even crack 100k when I went C-SC in tech but that was a different economy 7 years ago.
Same DHC situation here, 1 last PMY and promoted to SC. At low 80's base after new comp statement.
@SC1 what??? In commercial consulting?
Federal, ouch!
Holy hell thats messed up..Pay discrepancy was one reason I was looking to leave but guess grass just looked greener
Joined as direct hire consultant
DHC here too and heard others with this issue. Have a comp call and get that extra %
Hold on. So what's the stigma on DHC? I'm SA (early, not enough years for SC) and have had talks about coming in as C... is it better to just wait a year or two when I am capable of hitting he requirements for SC?
Oh yeah and bonus is 3k less than last year with the same rating and being calculated against a C base.
KPMG. Don't come in as a DHC. Better come in as SC a year or two later.
You're underpaid
