Not sure about your core motivation to make a move, but a role that can give you enough visibility within a large FS will provide you with 1) opportunities to outshine your peers and grow, 2) structure in your day-to-day life (easier to build routines) and 3) long-term job stability / security (relatively at least)
Yes, I didn’t travel much when I was at Deloitte but EY has more cross border and international opportunities.
It’s all about what you want to do. What’s the difference in roles? In company culture/vibe? Long-term prospects? Forget your base salary, 5k is not meaningful.
With the very little information you’ve provided, I’ll make the assumption the SaaS company is more known worldwide, would give you good prospects in the tech world, and perhaps opportunity to move to SF as you go up the ranks. The cons would be that if you want to stay in Toronto, you probably can’t progress too far, and you’ll always be on the receiving end of decisions from the US. “Established FS” feels like a bank/insurance company, so probably organizationally less nimble, less tech-focused... on the other hand stable, with a HQ in Toronto and upward mobility (if slow). Again... it depends on your feel on the 2 companies, we can’t give advice based on no information.
No clue about independent contracting, but I’ll say this... if the SF company is a big name (Salesforce for example), it will definitely help your long-term growth / professional attractiveness more. However the FS route is better if you want to settle and perhaps grow into leadership in Canada.
