I am interviewing as a senior consultant at KPMG finance strategy and transformation in Switzerland
1) Any tips on case types and specific questions to prepare for?
2) can anyone provide insights into the type of work they do? I do know the basics, but would appreciate input from someone who works there KPMG

I went the M&A tax law route at a big 4, I definitely work less than my friends who went the big law route. That being said it still isn’t a true 9-5. I’m usually off on weekends and evenings, but there have been some late nights and some partially working weekends.
Depends on what you're doing in Big4 but they generally are not known for WLB. Used to work in tax and actually worked more when I was at a Big4.
Some tax groups in big4 has amazing WLB typically the national office. But many of big4 groups are bad WLB and low pay. If it’s not tax (like consulting, quasi legal work, etc.), that depends but I’ve heard amazing things from friends working there. They work less or about the same than me and they still have busy/slow periods like us, but big4 are more flexible and humane in terms of culture. I think they travel just like other consultants. Happy to DM.
I’ve done the law firm and accounting life. In my experience, the hours are about the same. But assuming you’re doing tax or other compliance driven things, there is a busy season that is predictable. It’s about Jan 15-April 15 and about July 5- October 15. Times outside of that are usually less than even 40 hours a week for the most part. However the pay is significantly less than law firm life unless your a partner at the accounting firm or you work for a law firm that doesn’t pay well.
Thanks all. I’ll be doing legal stuff: so M&A, advisory and GC support type work (similar to usual corp stuff) not in-house legal, bt client facing legal as part of integrated service offerings. Does this change anything re ur thoughts / comments?
Left a UK MC law firm cos of disc & toxic culture. So considering options. I know I’ll take a haircut on pay, but not keen on MC anymore.Just want growth, good culture & wlb, decent pay & good quality work & clients. Am I barking up d wrong tree?
Assuming it wouldn’t be tax, i never worked there but heard great things. You will get busy periods when your project is ramping up just like biglaw, but overall I liked big4 much better than biglaw. (I left to switch out from tax.) For non-tax legal work (think they market as consulting), PwC has the best reputation - do let me know if you like it or not. I might join you!!
