Finally found THE one, after over a year of searching and trying out at least 5 different ones!
A nice comfortable office chair.

My criteria: mesh seat and back, arms, headrest
I tried cheap ones from Amazon. Expensive, second hand gaming chairs. Tried HM Aeron (second hand) and while I didn't like the bulk and the general design, I was sold on the mesh seating. I wanted to get the ErgoChair 2 from autonomous, but it doesn't have mesh seat.

I would argue to ask for stock options. 120k vs 150k doesn't matter as much, stock options are valuable. My SO is at Tesla and minting them stocks, she has been there since when it was still small and nimble. I have a higher base but she will blow me out of the water based on her stock value, my savings and 401k are easily dwarfed.
Compromise on base but never on stock options at all tech companies and at startups if you can get them.
Amazon for example maxes out out at 160k for most roles, but their stock options are insane. You get rich long term, real wealth is built not through cash component but through stock component. In my career if I make partner in 10 years I could probably be upper middle class but will likely still be the average Joe, but my SO has the potential to be in the elite club and I hope she does.
My suggestion...try and reframe the thinking away from your current compensation
Focus it on the type of role your targeting and what type of comp (including structur) that Role deserves
Thanks for the input. To add detail, the role would be a mid-level Product Manager.
125-150 for DC Tech manager
I wouldn't put much weight into stock options. Unless you are a founder or csuite hire you probably aren't going to get rich off of them.
Agree with KPMG1
Where is the startup located? If SF, then you need to ask substantially more
DC area

^good point. But don’t forget that Amazon and Tesla are exceptional stocks. For each Amazon, there are thousands of junk start ups out there
7 in 8 startups don't fail at Series C/D or even at Series B stage. After seed round maybe, but not further down in the life cycle for sure. VCs ensure an exit to a larger rival because their money goes to dust if startup bankrupts itslef, or it will lead to an eventual IPO.
Of course one needs to check the funding, VCs backing it and a ton of other things, but for the right startup 30k cash per year is worth giving up for stock.
