10% is not a lot for a move.
Have you told CI you want to do strategy work? Is that what your offer is for?
In terms of exits, Cap is well known globally.
I guess it depends what you mean by strategy. If McKinsey style operations related, market entry, turnarounds then there aren't too many of these. If you mean tech strategy, cloud strategy, data, supply chain, customer relationship etc strategy then there are loads of these...Still these are short term engagements with fewer people delivering, so more people are on implementation type of projects. You will not be limited to working only on types of projects that you are recruited for. Although it's likely that your first role will be the one that you are recruited for.
Doesn’t sound very attractive. 10% is not much and Cap is ok but nothing special as a brand name. I’d wait for something better to come along, market is good atm
Cap invent is not a strong brand for strategy so I would give it a pass
It might be good to branch out of public sector - ask for a higher salary?
I worked for CI for several years back when it was CC. They tend to pay less than big 4 and similar firms, and is in general a messy and weird place to work. On the flip side, it’s not as much of a grind. Unless you are absolutely miserable now, I would not make the move.
Internal processes are always a mess and nothing works as intended, and most people in HR/finance/resource mgmt are complete airheads, more than most companies. When a friend of mine went on maternity leave, she got like 3 completely different answers on her benefits. Raises always went into effect late and there was a lot of pay disparity within levels.
When I was there turnover was sky high as well. Judging by LinkedIn, that hasn’t changed much.
When Cap approached me, my takeaway was that the local management was unorganized, and the jobs are focused on tech (specifically being an offshore team wrangler).
You should definitely ask for more than 10%. It's a good global brand and there is loads of strategy work. Though given you're from public sector boutique I'd imagine it's not strategy one and you're being contacted about delivery role. That's fine as you don't necessarily have to work in delivery.
This is correct - I hear that strategy opportunities there are few and far between. Do you have any knowledge of that?
