Tired of wfh 😔
Hey guys. I have been applying to Amex for the past 1 year. Tried applying on the portal, through referrals and even hr consultants reached me regarding the roles since I have a relevant profile. But not once have I been shortlisted or called for an interview. What could be the problem?
PS: I have gotten calls from every other company for the same profile but not amex. Can't be a problem with the profile. Seems something dicey which I'm not aware of.American Express

Also you can 50$ off on annual fee for Amex blue cash preferred if you have Corp Amex card via Corp vantage program. Imo this is one of the best card for groceries with 6 per back
Saw it on the corporate sign up website and in the terms - I was surprised I noticed it but it jumped out at me because it was significantly higher than what I remembered
Blue cash preferred is an absolutely fantastic credit card! Totally grab it! If you spend $1000 on groceries every month, that’s is $60 of credit right there!
Move to CSP... has a ton of soft benefits such as rental insurance, trip insurance etc.
I'm not much of a traveler either, so not expecting any significant personal travel any time soon.
Still recommend the CSP?
One thing you will have to consider is impact on credit history and duration. If it’s the oldest card you have, would recommend moving to the no annual fee chase cards.
I have a credit union card that is a couple of years older so could rely on that.
Which chase card would you downgrade to?
If I downgrade you dont get sign up bonuses right?
Consider pairing the Blue Cash Preferred with the Citi DoubleCash to get 2% back on all non-bonus category spend. Between those two you're golden
Yeah but citi doublecash does not have any sign up bonus so it’s better to use it as a downgrade option for other premium citi cards later on
Thanks everyone! This conversation was extremely helpful!
Also I've pretty much cashed out all points on the pay yourself back bonus so nothing tying me down to Chase ( although I do bank with them which is convenient)
What’s the return on cash back using points, 1:1? Never realized CSR could that with points, but is it worth it?
Convert it to regular sapphire, I believe you can downgrade by talking to the rep over the phone or in branch. No annual fee and no transfer partner but basic enough to keep the credit line going. Or even consider downgrading to freedom or freedom unlimited
The Chase freedom unlimited just got a 5% multiplier on grocery spend for the first 12k in spend in one year. This is on top of the usual $200 sign up bonus. Basically, it's an opportunity for 80k UR on a card with no annual fee. Worth considering as well. Chase just reported card signups fell through the floor so I think they're making an effort to stay top of wallet.
If you aren't spending much maybe go no fee? Whatever would maximize points off your grocery - for instance I do all of my grocery & home shopping on Amazon so I have the Amazon credit card. 5% on my ~$800 home and grocery spend a month is pretty sweet for a free card!
Consider Amex everyday preferred $95 fee comes with 10k welcome bonus and 3x on grocery if you have more than 30 transactions in a month you get 1.5 times the total points you earned in that month so effectively 4.5x for your grocery spend. If you are worried about getting 30 or more trans monthly just reload your amazon balance my $.50 multiple times. There’s also a free version, Amex everyday which has 2x grocery with 1.25 times total points every months for 15 or more transaction
Follow up question, if I stick with CSR I can get it for $450 this yr instead of $550 (renewal benefit)
This shouldn't sway me right?
Yeah, thanks for the help!
For me it's not so much the break even of Chase and more the opportunity cost of another card
I downgraded my CSR and opened an Amex Gold. You get 4x points on dining and grocery shopping which is really the bulk of my spending now. So far I’m actually much happier with Amex than Chase customer service.
Chase has United, which you can get much better value from. Delta generally doesn't give you good value from your miles.
The vast majority of Amex transfers in general either give you poor value or require intimate knowledge of international airline loyalty programs to get good value. Which is totally fine for folks that are heavily involved in the points community, but 95% of folks likely won't be able to do much of decent value with their Amex points
How do you spend $1000 on groceries
That’s easy just depends on the size of the family. We are 4 and do it no problem between Costco and the grocery store

Chase is really lagging in terms of good cash back offers compared to Amex. I get a better value from amex for the $95 fee i pay than CSR with $450 fee
To be fair I loved my Chase before Covid.
Chase also needs to break into the corporate partnerships.
For people still looking at the AMEX blue cash preferred, I have a signup referral link that gives us both points: https://americanexpress.com/en-us/referral/SIMONsDPGP?XL=MIACP
