LEK will give you the broadest exit opps that youve listed within the US (including PE) and pays far better than the other two once you get to the manager level.
Internationally I agree with what other fish have posted about RB - have heard great things in europe. S& cloud/digital does not seem like the move to make for what you want to do
LEK manager would be a director anywhere else. No longer doing much case slide work. Mostly sell and only help out when shit hits the fan
Please feel free to DM me. I had offers from both RB and LEK out of Booth.
What you are seeing in the comments here is the general fact that LEK is much bigger in the US than RB, but situation is more nuanced. LEK’s primary focus is on DD work. Just do a search for automotive partners on LEK’s website and you’ll find that they have maybe 4 people, and the auto work they do is a few specific topics outside of DD. Look at RB’s auto practice and you’ll find 100+ people on the website and a ton of content and studies on cutting edge topics in the industry. Yes, marketing isn’t always reflective of the situation, but the difference in practice size and emphasis is apparent. So if you’re focused on the auto industry this should be a no-brainer.
If you want to do tech consulting, then the Strategy& sounds great.
Chances that you do PE post mba, especially from consulting are very slim so I wouldn’t give that too much weight when deciding. If you want to churn out DDs, then LEK is for you. If you want to have a normal consulting experience then S&>RB
LEK
I would say S& as the top choice.
Historically would have said LEK as #2, but given the horror stories that come out of that place, would say anywhere outside of the US, RB>LEK, and inside the US, LEK would eek out RB, but still beware of what you’re getting into.
LEK consulting 2 would like to speak with you as well. Could you DM me if possible.
Just tried to DM you and it says you’re unavailable to chat?
Asking your school’s career services office to put you in contact with recent grads who have joined each of these firms. Then you can start conversations on the things you’re concerned about
RB is very solid on automotive at USA
LEK has good brand, but tons of DDs, so not as exciting work. It might be great for exits, but not as great for what you’ll actually do. Roland Berger is smaller in US, but higher proportion of interesting strategy projects. It is strong in automotive, if that’s your interest. Strategy& is a great firm, but cloud and digital services — what does that mean? If it’s serving those industries in strategy projects and you want tech, might be interesting. If you’re consulting on cloud and digital topics, sounds too close to tech consulting and like it might be much lower margin business and not as great for career prospects or making for interesting work.
Can confirm cloud and digital is primarily tech consulting work, and that it’s hard to get exposure to any other type of strategy& work bc the staffing prioritizes fulfilling the open recs of tech consulting (aka mainly PMO roles) before you can be considered for work outside of cloud and digital.
