Second year associate here. How should I deal with the one partner in my practice group who seems to exclusively give me lousy assignments that we’ll never get paid for? I get great work from everyone else.

Any thoughts on headshot clothes and pose? I’m getting one soon and am thinking standard navy suit, white shirt, and red tie for professional. I’ll also do a biz cas and casual shot for personal use.

Now I'm in a client location, My manager is a good person but he told me, I should report to Lead.

Me: I don’t want us to have a confrontational relationship and I think we can agree something needs to change. When you make stupid decisions, that affects my business and it makes me feel like you’re not up to the job. That makes it harder for my team to do our jobs. I think to be an authentic leader I need to be radically candid with you and point our your mistakes. So are you willing to work with me on this?

Late night thoughts and will probably delete this in regret but how do you deal with feelings of rage when seeing/hearing/experiencing injustices around the world? Has anyone else had a mentor (assigned to them by the Company) who seemed to have it out for you? I mean downright sabotage to make you look bad left and right. I didn’t realize it at first. She was fake friendly, but she was discrete too. Some of the executives thought she was amazing, but I had to clean up her work all the time. She wasn’t above me either on the chain of command. Later I found out she had tried for the exec assistant role and they didn’t choose her, they wanted me instead.

Applying to roles within the same federal agency. I know you need one year within the probationary period, but can I apply to a higher GS level? For example, if I'm GS 9, receive a promotion to GS 11 at the end of probation, would i be able to apply to GS 13 roles if I'm qualified?
