Deciding between two offers:
1. Local city government (Senior Accountant) - Hourly but annualized to around $98k. 5 days in person during 6 month probationary period then option to telework 2 days a week. Great benefits, standard hours, but an hour commute each way.
2. Industry (Staff Accountant) - $100k, 2 days in office, team is supportive on WBL (40 hr works are standard).

Any advice on which to choose? I’ve been at Big 4 for 2 years with my CPA. Burnt out and just looking for a chill job.

This time last year, I was making 70k without bonus potential. Tomorrow, I am putting in my notice and I will be making 110k with potential bonuses. Remember to take care of you.

So, I started working full-time at a retail store for clothing and accessories and after a brief dispute with my supervisor (my bike broke down which made me come in 20 minutes late to y shift) they told me that it seems like working is not my priority, so to make it easier on me I would only get 20 hours a week. I’ve interviewed for several positions AVP and VP roles since October of ‘21 internally with Citi. Didn’t take any of them because it would have been only $8k - $11k salary bumps. For double or even triple the work. So I’m leaving to go from $70k to $235k in September at a competing firm for a VP level role. The moral of the story: hop if you need to. No reason to stick around for low pay and not being compensated fairly by the company that expects “loyalty” from you.

I work at KPMG and was told that I will not be promoted (from senior associate 2 to 3), but received pay rise as someone who was promoted. I am so proud person that immediately after knowing that I will not be promoted, I wrote resignation. What is your action plan in this case? Will you resign? And I am not afraid of being unemployed, I have some cash for such case.

I know there is a lot of politics at big four and have no interest staying in a senior manager role for 6-8 years and risk a chance of still not becoming partner. Forgive the basic question but can you contract around state statutes? For ex, customer wants to insert state contractor payment statutes and have that state law govern. I’m assuming the way around this is to have another more preferable state as choice of law?

So after two weeks of waiting (and giving up on the idea of getting the job really), the recruiter got back to me.

They said due to month-end and quarter-end close they were busy and couldn’t get back to me as quickly for a “good update”.

The recruiter said the CFO enjoyed our call, she, the CFO, will call me next week directly to “discuss some final things”.

Not sure if Im hired or not, but are there any questions about the job, comp (cont.)

Is applying a few days before the “Apply by” date too late? Do most decisions get made early on/they don’t wait for all applications before interviewing/hiring?

Should you discuss salary range with an internal company recruiter prior to setting up an interview? With external recruiters it’s pretty easy to talk about the expected range.
