Delta announced that they’re fining unvaccinated employees $200 a month. Probably easier to just mandate vaccines for anyone who flies on their airline, but this is a good step.

They're not being fined, their health insurance is beijg made more expensive to account for projected higher medical costs

Fair point.

As a self insured company, they collect more from unvaccinated is a good idea. This is same as collecting more from smokers. Good move Delta.

like

I’m fine with the premiums, and also wish you had to be vaccinated to fly but I doubt that airlines will do this given how desperate they are for customers. They have a big financial hole to climb out of, which I’m sure also impacts why they don’t want to be paying all of the higher costs associated with caring for the unvaccinated on their health plan.

like

They are also desperate for workers and it has significantly impacted the customer experience so far, so this really doesn't help.

They should have made it a "discount" for vaxxed folks, just for behavioral economics sake. Same reason paying in cash is a "discount", instead of paying with card being a "surcharge".

Glad more private firms are finally taking the lead on this. However, they should have framed it as "cost sharing due to more frequent testing". The way they framed it just creates opportunities for "Slippery slope" arguments and derails the whole thing.

How bad does it look to prospective employers to change jobs every 3 years? I've done this since college (12 years ago) and have tripled my salary as a result. Granted, I've switched between the same two companies each time, getting a big pay bump in the process. Now, the other company is looking at bringing me back again (3rd time). The pay bump won't be as big, but much better WLB, less travel, and I'll be able to do what I love. Opinions on this?
