Anyone from Embark able to tell me about some benefits you have. Like how long is Paternity leave and do you have to be with the firm for a year to use it? Also what health insurance do you have? I saw that Embark fully pays premiums but if it’s a junk insurance company then that’s not so great haha.

Recent lateral junior associate in brand new practice where I'm the only associate. I'm probably going to bill 1,500 hours max this year due to being very slow and taking time off for a delayed honeymoon which I disclosed during my interview process. I have been told my work product is good, I don't turn anything down, I participate in non-billable work, I'm responsive and I always let people know I'm available to help. Do I need to be worried about getting fired for low hours?

I’ve worked at places that all have different holiday policies. EA has at minimum a nice 10 day shutdown from Christmas Eve through New Years. It’s great to know that there will be no slack messages or an exploded inbox to come back to while away. I’ve been at other studios that only give you Christmas Eve & Day and New Years Eve & Day and then the rest is up to you to request for PTO and this is obviously the suck.

For the first time in my entire professional career, not only has my company not bothered to look at a calendar when planning things, but they scheduled a major meeting *on* Yom Kippur. Uhhh...I've worked a bunch of places and this has never been an issue. Lack of foresight or genuine not giving a shit about employees? (Not talking Sukkot here, but Major High Holyday that even the most non-observant acknowledge because Day of Atonement, you know?) Anyone else?
