AlixPartners can you please share about the TC and WLB for new parents?
I'm approached by the AP recruiter and in the final interview process for an SVP role (digital practice).
Already have two other offers (Strategy @ Walmart, 300K TC, and Marketing@ Amazon, 220K TC). 10 YOE
1. Will AP's SVP TC be higher than $300K? What's the breakdown?
2. Would you choose AP over Strategy @ Walmart or Marketing @ Amazon?
3. How difficult is it for new parents? I still want to spend time with my newborn.

What is the difference between cyber and IT audit?
Cyber requires technical skills. IT Audit requires a vague understanding of tech.
Maybe he knows you are applying elsewhere and is putting a carrot in front of you.

How early are we talking?
So he said you’ll be a manager a year from now? Or a year early from what, 2 yrs, 5 yrs? I’d say okay and continue to look. No point in contemplating unless you actually have an offer in hand. Which then, I will negotiate to either higher salary and/or higher position.

I think cyber will be much more valuable down the road. If you have an interest and an opportunity I would make the switch, even if you might backtrack a little. Literally all I hear from my clients these days (well before covid) was that they need help with cyber.
Are you in IT Audit currently?
Brought up the manager position, I kind of like the ring of that.
Idk what I want to do. I know I’d take a big pay cut to go to cyber and essentially start all over, I just don’t really like IT Audit anymore.
I’ve been applying for lower levels because I don’t have much experience in the cyber field
For the time being, I think stability is quite important. If you’re doing well enough that they want to promote early, I think it’s safe to say your job is very secure. Maybe wait to see the aftermath in the next 1-3 years, then switch course?
I’d also argue that I was up for early promotion this year and had local office support, yet didn’t get it due to COVID. If you find the right position, I wouldn’t hold out for a promotion that may not happen next year. There could certainly be some people deserving of that early promotion this year that got delayed which could then delay your early promo next year.
I’m in IT and if you’re knowledgeable, you will have a fantastic career. In my area, most of us run circles around the “cops” who don’t understand the technology and ask the wrong questions.
“Did you lock the front door to the house?
No because we’re on a boat, but I do have a key.
But did you lock the front door?”
