Do any of you regret becoming a Partner? Why or why not?

No regrets but I do question if it was wise of me in being so aggressive with my career and making it so early (35). You can’t short cut time and experience and do find my initials few years as a Partner a much bigger struggle than I’d had liked

likehelpful

I do not regret it. I consider it a privilege to be able to work with some of the smartest people helping some of the most amazing brands while being able to help my family and community financially.

This is so far from where I thought I would be 30 years ago that sometimes I have to pinch myself.

I do wish I would have learned how to balance work and family life earlier in my career and focused more on the journey vs the destination when I was aiming for partner.

Be kind to yourselves and others. Appreciate the hardships. Learn from your mistakes. Don’t forget to have a little fun.

Have a wonderful long weekend! Thank you for all that you do for this industry.

I’ll posit that if you balanced better early, you wouldn’t have made partner. It takes some single-track-mindedness to be so successful at work

Don’t “regret” it, but if I could turn back time I may have pursued different options.

Curious to hear P1’s response on the above as well.

Zero regrets - I wanted to make partner when I got into consulting and still think that is what I will do if I could do it all over again . The only difference is that I would have spent some more time before making partner getting more variety of experience with less risk of failure

P2 is right. I am glad I didn’t rush it. I tried lots of other jobs too, and I made sure I kept a decent balance with family etc.

If only others were more like you P2. It’s because of people with baseless biases that I will be leaving not just the firm but consulting in general. I stayed 4+ years and would to stay and retire but I don’t see a path forward with current the people in power.

I apologize if this isn't the right place to post.

Any advice would be appreciated.
