I’m in consulting at MBB (2 years out of undergrad) and want to do marketing or product marketing. Any tips?

Did anyone ever go from MBB to Big4? Why?

What kind of work does MBB actually do? I’m pretty sure there is boring work happening everywhere, but essentially, are your coolest projects cooler than the coolest projects happening at Big Four, Accenture, etc.?

Serious question: do I *need* MBB on my resume to have good exit ops from consulting? I have an M7 MBA, but struggled to land interviews because I didn’t have big brands on my resume (confirmed by recruiters). I wouldn’t be surprised if most/all F100 and FAANG hired MBB only.

Any perspectives on exit opportunities available to lead/managing data scientists coming out of MBB? How do opportunities compare on pay wrt. those for S&O consultants? Thanks.

Any LMM/MM funds that take non MBB/T2 consultants? 😅

Is it uncommon to see BAH associates with 5+ YOE move to BCG or other MBB?

Does MBB compete mostly between themselves? Are there other firms that put up decent fights?

💥If I’m a T2/MBB/Big4 recruiter and find out a candidate accepted with us, reneged before the start date, and is joining a competitor consulting firm instead, what stops me from messaging that other recruiting team & letting them know this is a “bad Apple”? Experienced hire recruiting, where universities regulations aren’t in play?

Please advise: Sent an email to a partner explaining that I want to take a step back in an initiative because project has been long hours, and I wanted to focus my energy on something else I’m more interested in, and offered to help the next person to transition. Got a reply saying I’d advise to say no up front rather than making commitments I cannot keep. I’m so upset that I cried. WLB has been hard and it was not easy making this decision. What do I reply? Don’t want to leave on bad terms.

When thinking about leaving a firm, is it the smarter choice to wait until you’re promoted to leave or does that matter? I’m 2 years in and may be promoted this Aug which comes with a comp increase and bonus…I’d really like to leave consulting asap though but am just now starting the job search process and want to be thoughtful about my next step
