I'm flying American right now. I signed up for their Platinum Challenge.
@McK. Fare class-based bonuses (e.g., 50% of miles flown for Y and B) do, but the extra redeemable miles earned based on status (e.g., diamonds earn an extra 6 miles per dollar) don't

Butt in seat miles plus paid class of service bonus on the carrier operating the program, plus *certain* card-spend-earned miles, certain other airline miles and certain targeted promotions count as "elite qualifying miles" (depending on the program).

Yeah the key is executive platinum, which takes 100k eqms = 20 rnd trips NYC LA = a trip every 2.5 weeks
