Depends on how much money they bring in
Good point! 👍
Yes. If your private life puts you in reputational harm territory for the firm, and demonstrates a lack of ethics and disclosure, firms will perma-bench to separation. The moment that your background becomes a liability to gaining or retaining clients there is a clear problem. If it is clearly an ethical grey area - even if it isnt proven - it is dangerous territory. While rare, 100% something I've seen my firm solve for in the past...
Here's a hint, a lawsuit against that firm is child's play comparative to the loss of revenue from a client identifying certain behavior. The firm protects the bottom line first.

Sooooo…. What did you do, OP? We need to know now.
On paper they do
Just made SP, in a boutique consulting firm with good WLB. Had too much time to do stupid stuff, I guess . Trying to make partner .
Yes. It is not criminal civil case like I mentioned earlier. More a regulatory conducts with governing bodies. Yes, I did know what I was doing is against the rules, and I continued after warning. Denied and lied about it and got caught on videos. The misconduct is public record. Not a CPA, but MBA. Senior position in boutique consulting firm, should I self disclose or suppress the evidence and witness meaning settle early ?
Firms only care about revenue. Hope that answers your question.
Settle before going to court ? To avoid self disclosure or being discovered later. Anyone had experience?
My prior college in MBB was let go for some personal reasons. Not sure the company found out somehow or someone reported it. With small firm, no office and people all over, HR has no resources to run background checks, I guess?

OP, the more you explain, the deeper and lower it goes. I’m afraid you are probably in deep $hit. If you are convicted of sex related crimes or corruption crimes, you are toast. You should stop being cheap and talk to a real attorney about the ramifications of what you did with all that free time.

Hard to know without some specifics, but would tend to think in a civil suit there is likely a way to settle without admitting guilt and pay if they sign a nondisclosure with penalties re the evidence. Once you are in court and the video evidence is on the record, that wife that you say has no leverage can access it and offer to share it if you don't play nice. It sounds like you very much play by your own rules if you think the other rules shouldn't apply. To get warned and ignored shows bad risk management. If it's not criminal, you probably aren't required to disclose.... but read what you signed. Settling without it going to court likely wouldn't show up anywhere in any check. Your attorney has a different lens than you.
Also depends on which governing body you are fighting and why. Your HOA, your city, the feds. ??? and what you were doing.... stealing your neighbors political signs or dumping hazardous waste on the side of the road. Is it a stupid ordinance that should be revoked or just something you thought shouldn't apply to you.
Like lawsuit and other public records ?
Civil lawsuits but includes compliance issues, violations outside of work. They are public records. And looks bad for integrity and ethics. Companies sometimes require self disclosure, does this need to be disclosed or the company does background check occasionally or when they promote you?
That is great to know. Don’t want to be Andy Bryon.
It truly depends on the act. A big 4 firm let several partners go for being caught picking up prostitutes in Las Vegas last fall.
dude talk to an attorney. If its a divorce its whatever. Doesnt sound like we're talking divorce.
Nope. Compliance issues with governing bodies. It looks and sounds bad but no one gets hurt. Just want to ask here anonymously to see if I should self disclose to the HR
It is repeated violations “ illegal” activities per the governing body in civil case. “ never admit any wrongdoings “ is what we all learned in business school, so that is what I did and hoped never got caught. It is in public record and on the lawsuit complaint
Divorce will be much easier. Wife has no leverage if she wants alimony or child support.
Forgot to mention the worst part. There are videos of me in the violations. That is why I thought about Andy Bryon. How do I prevent those videos being released in public or social medias? Advice please. Attorneys want $$ and advise fight back. The longer it takes and the worst it gets. It took me a long time to get where I am now. Making $$$ with WLB. No travel, no office, flexible hours. Thanks a million.
Yes when it violates social media policy or there's a mandatory reporting event. Like an arrest of certain types have to be reported for CPAs and in some cases even non CPA supervisors that include CPA functions.
If it’s civil, who’s the plaintiff? A government agency? In my background checks, I think they only search for criminal activities. Is this in the United States? What would it cost you to just settle?
Is your last name Trump?
