Do not bother getting your CPA if you have no PA, tax, or internal audit experience. It is a waste of your time. I'm saying this from an industry accounting perspective only. The majority of my experience has been at larger publicly traded companies with about five years working on various aspects of M&A including opening entries, goodwill assessments, and complete team restructuring and I haven't been able to find anything after a year and a half of looking.

I’ve had radio silence from a small investment bank for about a week now. I’ve completed several rounds of interviews, but last Thursday the firm reposted the job I’ve been interviewing for. On Friday the headhunter said that they’re not sourcing new candidates and it’s probably just LinkedIn automatically refreshing the listing. She said they had a busy week last week but will make a final decision this week - is the delay and radio silence a bad sign or is this typical for experienced hiring?

been in industry (small companies) for 5 years with an active CPA. Wanted to get in SEC reporting roles but almost every company requires 2-year public accounting exp. Now applying for public accounting firms entry level positions but almost all firms HR asked if I had ever worked in firms. Got rejection emails from firms all the time. Is this a dead lock? firms exp matters much more than a CPA license?
